Privacy policy

1. Who operates this website?

Compare Kitchen Hire is a UK directory for temporary kitchens and kitchen pods. The website operator is responsible for personal information collected through its own forms and admin systems.

Directory contact and privacy enquiries: hello@comparekitchenhire.co.uk.

2. What information we collect

Customer quote requests: your name, email address, optional telephone number, delivery postcode, preferred start date, intended hire period, free-text requirements, selected supplier and enquiry reference. Do not include payment card details, health information or other unnecessary sensitive information in an enquiry.

Supplier applications and profile administration: company and contact names, business email and website, service area, kitchen types, messages, listing edits, claim and permission status, and relevant public business contact information. Some unclaimed listings use factual information found on a supplier's own publicly accessible website.

Website activity and security: server and hosting logs may include IP addresses, browser details and timestamps. Our own site analytics store date/time, action type and supplier reference for events such as profile views, directory searches and contact-link clicks; these events do not deliberately contain personal contact details or a persistent visitor identifier. Session cookies support form protection and private admin login.

Optional Google Analytics: if you accept optional analytics, Google Analytics 4 may collect device/browser and website interaction information under Google's service terms. We do not deliberately send customer names, phone numbers, email addresses, exact postcodes or enquiry messages to GA4.

3. Purposes and lawful bases

  • Handling customer enquiries: recording your requested quote, routing it to the named participating supplier when permitted, responding to questions and resolving delivery problems. Our intended basis is legitimate interests in operating a requested comparison/enquiry service; we assess and balance those interests against your rights.
  • Supplier applications and listing management: considering free listing requests, making corrections, verifying claims and keeping directory information accurate. Depending on the action, the basis is taking pre-contract steps requested by a supplier or our legitimate interests in operating an accurate directory.
  • Security, spam prevention and records: protecting forms, preventing abuse, investigating incidents and maintaining evidence of activity. This is based on legitimate interests, and legal obligations where applicable.
  • Optional GA4 analytics: your choice to accept analytics cookies and similar technologies. You may reject or withdraw this choice without losing access to the directory.

We do not use customer enquiry details for an email marketing list or sell them to data brokers. If marketing is introduced later, it will have its own lawful basis, choice and privacy information.

4. Sharing information

Your selected supplier may receive the enquiry details only if it has agreed to receive enquiries and you are told that supplier is the intended recipient. If the supplier has not opted in, the request is kept for the directory administrator to review; it is not automatically forwarded to another supplier. The supplier is independently responsible for information it then processes to prepare its quote or rental contract.

Hosting, authorised email services and other necessary IT providers may process records on our instructions. Google receives optional analytics data only if analytics is accepted. If you choose to load the optional street map, your browser connects to map/library providers. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect the website and its users.

5. Information obtained from public sources

Some unclaimed supplier profiles are prepared from publicly available business websites. Where those details identify an individual, such as a sole trader or named business contact, UK data protection requirements may still apply. Suppliers can request correction, claim or removal of a listing by emailing us. We do not copy supplier-owned photographs without suitable rights.

6. How long information is kept

Our intended pre-launch retention schedule is:

  • Completed, closed or invalid customer enquiries: generally 180 days after the latest recorded activity.
  • Unresolved enquiries: reviewed periodically and ordinarily deleted no later than 12 months after their last activity unless a lawful reason requires longer retention.
  • Supplier applications: generally 12 months after submission unless an ongoing business relationship or necessary records justify longer retention.
  • First-party anonymous event logs: ordinarily 13 months.
  • Published business listings: for as long as the information remains necessary and accurate, subject to correction/removal requests and periodic checks.

Technical backups and hosting records may follow separate, time-limited retention schedules. Necessary dispute and legal records may be kept longer where justified. The deletion schedule must be enabled and verified in the hosting environment before launch; it is not guaranteed merely by publishing this page.

7. International processing

Some IT, email, analytics or map services may process technical or personal data outside the UK. Before launch, we must verify our actual providers and applicable safeguards (such as adequacy arrangements or appropriate contractual protections). You may ask us about the relevant providers and safeguards.

8. Cookies, analytics and maps

Essential sessions are used for form security and admin login. We remember your optional analytics preference in browser storage. Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-9V4Y1GZV7K) is loaded only after your acceptance; rejecting it does not stop access to the site. You can change your choice using Cookie settings in the footer. See our Cookie Policy for further details.

The ordinary UK map and supplier location dots are served by our own website. If you actively open the optional interactive street map, external map scripts and OpenStreetMap tiles are requested and those providers may receive your IP address and browser information.

9. Illustrative photographs

The temporary-kitchen trailer images used to explain kitchen types are computer-generated illustrations. They are not photographs of the stock or equipment owned by a particular listed supplier. Images on supplier profiles must not be interpreted as evidence of their inventory unless expressly identified and authorised.

10. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to use of your information, and rights relating to portability and automated decisions. We do not make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. You can ask to see or delete an enquiry using its reference number, or object to use of your contact details in an unclaimed supplier profile.

Contact hello@comparekitchenhire.co.uk with “Privacy request” in the subject. We may need to confirm your identity before releasing information. You can also raise a data protection complaint with us; we will acknowledge it within 30 days, take appropriate steps to investigate and explain the outcome without undue delay. You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

11. Changes

We will update this notice if our services, processors, data practices or legal requirements change. Material changes affecting how your personal information is used will be brought to your attention where appropriate.

12. Business information

Compare Kitchen Hire is operated by Luke Barry, a sole trader. Business address: 26B Holesdale Road, Reigate, RH2 0BQ, United Kingdom. For website and data protection enquiries, email hello@comparekitchenhire.co.uk.
